"Capturing the best in British Traditional Jazz"

Hugh Rainey Jazz Band with Charles Connor-
"Always A Pleasure!"

Catalogue Note:
This is the band’s fifth CD for P.E.K. and I think their best. It was recorded (not live) in January 2005; in a single day no fewer than 26 tracks were recorded. Twenty of them appear on this CD which features the wide range of jazz material we come to expect from Hugh’s fine band. The tunes are:- Copenhagen, Black And White Rag, Sweet And Slow, Dapper Dan, Balcony Rock, Move The Body Over, Sunday Blues, Big Boss Man, Cute, Nostalgia Rag, Cushion Foot Stomp, Blues To Be There, China Boy, What Can I Say Dear, Black Bottom Stomp, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Dear Old Southland, Just One Of Those Things, Spain, Ting-A-Ling. The line-up is Hugh Rainey tpt, Jack Clifford reeds, Les Handscombe tb, David Browning pno, Terry Godwin bjo, gtr, Derek Pring, tuba, bs, John Baker dms. They are joined by Charles Connor, cl, sop sax on eight tracks and by John Finch washboard on one track. (Hugh has very graciously dedicated this CD to my late wife Eleanor who died just five weeks before the recording session). (78 min)
