The John Maddocks Jazzmen -
"Small Change"

Catalogue Note:
Since the band's last CD (Behind Closed doors PKCD-309) there have been two changes of personnel which, whilst they were not small changes, have resulted in almost no change to the sound of the band. Peter Tamplin piano), who has been with John Maddocks for many years has retired from the mainstream of jazz owing to failing eyesight; Keith Dorey, who is making a good recovery after a long illness, was unable to be on this recording. They are ably replaced by Chris Satterley and Dave Broomfield. The other members of the band are Peter Wilkinson trumpet, John Maddocks clarinet, alto and tenor saxes, Tony Farr trombone, Stuart Gledhill double bass, Brian Barker drums. This is another band whose versatility and superb musicianship make their music always so very rewarding and enjoyable. The tunes on this CD, recorded (not live) in May 2008 are:- Ring Dem Bells, My Life Will Be Sweeter Someday, Savoy Blues, Wait 'til You See My Baby Do The Charleston, A Lull At Dawn, You Broke Your Promise, I'm Wondering Who, Keyhole Blues, Moose March, Pussy Cat Rag, Jelly Bean Blues, Shim-me-sha-wabble, Michigan Water Blues, C'est Magnifique, When Day Is Done. (75min)
