Here is the first CD by this excellent New Orleans-style band, based in West Yorkshire and formed about five years ago by members of the
late Dennis Browne's Creole Band. They have recently been joined by Carolyn Topsy Hilton, a young singer with an amazing voice.
As you probably know I believe there are too many lady singers on the jazz scene who shouldn't! Carolyn is one who definitely should
- she's outstanding; she sings on five of the twelve tracks. The CD was recorded at the 2009 Keswick Jazz Festival.
The band line-up is John Hummerstone trumpet; Gerry Owen clarinet & alto sax; Dave Aspinwall trombone; Pete Beaumont piano;
